I have just stepped off the plane (well two days ago at least) from spending a week training in the remote spot of El Tur on the north Sinai in Egypt. This was a last minute trip designed to off-set the end of summer blues as the clocks went back and I had to face the reality of windsurfing in the little day-light we have left over the coming winter. So off I went alongside my friends Jam and Em "Murkin" Siddall! These guys were really great fun and I think that without their jokes and humour I surely would have gone mad at the shack of doom- aka windsurf centre! Unfortunately the winds were predominantly light for the week and I did only get 2 planning days out of 7, but I would say that despite this I think I improved my most since I begun windsurfing. I had to practise all the light-wind tricks in the straps and even got some compliments from Jem Hall on my light wind trickery! But most of all I was ecstatic at finally being able to claim proper sliding vulcans on port tack - about time! Hopefully I can now build in my freestyle to bigger and better things! I've put a selection of the light-wind pics on the second to last day in the gallery - no laughing please at the extreme cheese!! |
